I have basil plant in my yard and tried to drink it as a tea and it’s good and also the smell is so good. Then i look around for the pansit pansitan in my yard and saw some on the ground because yesterday i pulled it out from my other plant and never knew that it’s good for artritis so i picked it up and look if it is the same look in your website and it look the same and i tried to eat it and it’s ok. From now on I will not throw it anymore after I clean up my yeard I will save it for salad. By the way is it ok to take herbal medicine i mean like malunggay, pansit pansitan or basil even I got cervical cancer twice but now i am cancer free. I have been to chemo and radition 6 months ago and have also a radical hysterectomy 2 years ago. Please advice me some good herbal medicine to make sure i will always be cancer free. Thank you and God bless you by the way I always watch you in Salamt Dok. Sincerely Mrs. Hunt

FROM DR EMIL: It is ok to take malunggay, pancit-pancitan, basil. You can also take on other days, tarragon tea which is also good for relaxation. A very important herb, luyang dilaw (turmeric) is worth taking for cancer survivors, also for those who want to reduce the risk of getting cancer. In population known to have long life-span, turmeric has been shown to have a strong preventive factor, also bitter gourd (ampalaya) and in recent reports, Resveratrol, found in grape skin, pomegranate and wild berries.

We just recently found out that my husband may be having first stage kidney disease due to his type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and his being overweight. Can you suggest a herbal plant which he can take, along with is regular meidcines, to help reduce or prevent the onset of kidney disease. Thanks a lot.

From Dr. Aligui: First, be sure to control diabetes because this is the main cause of the kidney problem. A combination of banaba, sambong and balbas pusa can help improve urination and help keep the kidneys healthy. Please watch Salamat Dok this weekend (Sept 26-27)for a feature on Balbas pusa.
