Prunes come from plums and it is said that the semi-dried fruit contains plenty of antioxidants that is more than that of blueberries. Because of this property, prunes helps to slow aging process of the brain and body. It also helps normalize blood circulation. Prunes have a high nutrient density and for this reason is a very good source of energy and vitality. For every 100 gms of prunes (about a cup), there are 1,890 IU of Vitamin A, 10 mg of Vit B (Thiamine), 16 mg of riboflavin, 1.7 mg of niacin, and  3 mg of Vit C. It also contains minerals such calcium (11 mg) iron (: (7 mg), phosphorus (85 mg), potassium (810 mg) but be careful because it contains also 71 mg of carbohydrates. From Dr. Aligui: Dear Claire, It is known that muscular dystrophy has no known cure. I would advise you to eat musrooms or take the chinese remedies of medicinal mushrooms (Lingzhi or Reishi) to help reduce the symptoms. You can also seek ayurvedic doctors or acupuncturists.

    Hello Doc.,

Just want to ask what herbal medicine can my dad use, recently we went to the hospital to check the cause of his unexplained weight loss to our surprise the result shows that they found a huge mass on his intestine. He is only 54y/o no vise and diabetic. I’m very worried about him however, I don’t think operation is what he needs now coz he’s quite old, instead we want to try alternative medicine.
    please help us doc.

    Thanks and God Bless,

    Marineth

From Dr. Aligui: If you have decided on alternative medicine, I would recommend that you try Chichirica (Pink Periwinkle) tea daily on him – 3 leaves of the plant on cup, pour boiling water and let stand for 5-10 minutes with cover. Take this daily, there is really no guarantee but it has help others prolonged their lives. You can identify the plant by searching Google Image.
