Orthosiphon aristatus (Cat’s whiskers, a source of essential oils and flavones) –listed in the Philippine Pharmacopeia 1 as a traditional medicinal plant for bacterial and inflammatory diseases of the lower urinary tract and approved by the German Commission E for urinary tract infections and for kidney and bladder stones. A study by Matsuraba et al (1999) in laboratory animals had shown that the leaves contain Methylripariochromene A (MRC) which causes increased urinary volume and the excretion of sodium, potassium and chlorides which subsequently lower the blood pressure, vasodilatation. These findings indicate that MRC decreases cardiac output and induce a diuretic effect.

From Doc Emil: Herbal drugs in general, would do little help if any, for kidney failure. Dialysis would help keep toxins out but definitely the patient will need a kidney transplant if it is total kidney failure.

From Doc Emil: Air drying is the preferred method; herbal teas are prepared by air drying but fresh leaves can also be used. Sun drying may dry also the essential oils which also give medicinal value that why air-drying is preferred.

marami na akong experience sa dahong iyan. talagang nakapagpapahulog siya ng bato at magaling sa uti. kaya lang magingat dahil may adverse reaction ito. masama sa buntis, at may severe na ulcer. kung di naman severe or acute, basta busong ka pag uminog ka . magaling kung fresh ang ilalaga. magpapatuyo lang kung maraming dahon at sayang para mai store mo ng mahabang panahon

I have been drinking wachichao for almost a year every morning. I pick 15 to 30 udlot (fresh top leaves about 2 big leaves and 2 small leaves). Combined with 30 to 50 udlot of jute (saluyot) and mix with three in one coffee in a big mug. I pour boiling water ( should be boiling before pouring). Then I eat the leaves. It made me stronger, healthier, sexually active.

I would not take it if you have high potassium levels. CBC is not the proper test for potassium levels -it does not give this information. It’s serum electrolyte determination that will give you the levels of potassium.

Sir gagamitin po namin this balbas pusa for research.. ask ko lang po if there are already some studies that certify the effectiveness of this balbas pusa as an hypertensive drug.. but sir they say it is more preferered as a diuretic drug.

meron din ako niyan sa bahay, bilang ornamental plant, maganda kasi ang flowers. pero nung makita ng doctor, bisita ng kapitbahay namin, tuwangtuwa siya at kinalbo niya ang puno namin, nagdala siya ng marami kasi gamot daw. Hi Doc,
COQ10 has helped some patients with failed kidneys and are undergoing kidney dialysis. Some were helped at very low dosage and some needed very high dosage, probably depending on severity of the problem. Google COQ10 + kidney failure. There are many articles out there.

Yes Melly–coq10 ‘was’ one of the things I used. I made sure i bought the highest potent stuff I could find. Maybe i went overboard, but heck,,i’m off dialysis. I was on dialysis for 2 years, and seen two of my friends die their at the center. I knew i had to figure out a way of leaving there. I would go every other day, at 6 in the morning-for 5 hours. Ok,,the Coq10 i bought,,is called Liq-Nol. Made by epic4health. Not cheap, at 130.00 a bottle. You can research this, and get ‘ubiquinol’, not ubiquinone,,more potent. Google all this! The second thing,,er let me say first,,after a while on dialysis,,i decide to go ‘against’ what the doctors were preaching to me,,NO VITAMINS,,NO HERBS,,VERY LITTLE WATER. FINALLY I THOUGHT TO MYSELF,,DIALYSIS IS ‘REMOVING ALL OF THE GOOD STUFF(MINERAL, VITAMINS ETC.) as well as the bad stuff. I was not getting better. Dr. Schulze uses kidney cleansing herbs, which, i guess i must work, but i didn’t follow his exact protocol.o ate lots of garlic, took astragalus-google that, its amazing. I will think of more things I did and get back to you all. The doctor(chiropractor) i see here in Akron, is Dr. Keith Ungar, you can look him up, and he has teaching(no selling) videos on YouTube. Anyway,,you would think,,the medical guys would be bugging me on how i got off dialysis,,since no ones hardly done it.
